Sales Resume Format
What sales resume format should you use? When you prepare and
submit your sales resume for jobs it is important that you use the correct sales resume format. If
you didn't, it would not necessarily get you sidelined, but it would certainly raise a few
eyebrows.
When it comes to resume writing in general, there are three resume formats to chose
from - chronological, functional and combined. In most occupations including sales you should use a
chronological sales resume format.
The Chronological Sales Resume Format
A chronological resume format presents your work experience in chronological order
starting with your most recent position (that’s your current job if you are in employment) and then
working back in time.
The chronological resume format has the following basic structure.
-
Header
-
Personal Statement / Executive Profile*
-
Professional Experience
-
Qualifications & Training
-
Awards
-
Affiliations
-
Keywords
*The Personal Statement / Executive Profile have slightly different formats and it depends upon the
level of the position of that is being applied for. Essentially it’s one format for entry level
personnel or non-executive sales positions and another for experienced personnel and executive
positions.
Each section of your resume is, of course, vitally important. If you need any help then you can
refer to any good book on the subject including this one.
